January 22, 2023 - INSCRIPTIONS FROM THE HEART

IFH: Second to None -- January 22, 2023

I heard of someone who asked regarding Jesus, “are we supposed to believe that one man could die for the whole of mankind, for their sins; past, present, and future?”. The one being asked simply said, “yes, because of who Jesus is”. Colossians 1:15-20 tells us:

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”

Jesus is second to none, meaning He is above all -- no one comes close to His glory, His authority, and His value. Jesus is able to pay for the sins of the world, past, present, and future because of His supremacy.

Church, as we start this brand new year, let’s remember how great the sacrifice of Christ is. That we as His people have been bought with a price, not with perishable things like silver or gold, but by the precious blood of Christ. Even if the whole of creation was placed on a scale against Christ, it won’t even come close to the supremacy of Christ. This is our Saviour who gave Himself for us -- Jesus. The King of kings and the Lord of lords.
