Hebrews 12:1-2. WHY AND HOW TO RUN TOWARDS JESUS.

Our Scripture begins with the word “therefore”. We should read Hebrews 11 first to find out the connection. It tells us what “Faith” is, and how it was manifested in the lives of witnesses like Abel, Abraham, Moses, Joseph and many others. They had their own kind of race where they finished well. The focus of their faith is God who promised a reward. They serve as sources of inspiration to present-day believers.

To me, the race in this Scripture illustrates my own race in knowing more of Jesus in my early Christian life: Struggling but continuing running towards my Christian maturity with the encouragement from many people. Allow me to share my thoughts on how we could competently participate and finish a race that is set before us for our spiritual growth.

First, lay aside every weight that hinders us to run effectively. This can be in any form like, too much social media activity, material acquisitions, carefree lifestyle and minimal time for spiritual activity. We all studied them during our Being Challenge.

Second, get rid of every sin that we have. This can be our unbelief, pride, poor prayer life and other worldly-focused lifestyle. Ask forgiveness from God.

By doing so, we become fit to endure our race and finish it. We must not be distracted but must constantly focus our eyes on Jesus who perfected our faith as he obediently endured the cross for our salvation. We are all winners in God's kingdom. Cheers and blessings.
