Godly Woman

In the 1994 Miss Universe pageant, Sushmita Sen of India was asked “What for you is the essence of being a woman?” She gave an epic answer to this question, and I quote “I think being a woman by itself, the very fact that you’re a woman is a gift of God that we all must appreciate. The origin of a child is a mother and is a woman. And a woman is one who shares the love and shows the man what love, caring and sharing is all about. That is the essence of a woman.” Her answer was listed as one of the best answers in the history of Miss Universe.

My sisters in Christ, imagine you are in a pageant but this time it will be the Godly women pageant. We, Christian women are all candidate of this. What will the question be? Should the question be, “What is a Godly Woman”? The Bible has already answered this for us. In Proverbs 31:10-31, it tells us that a godly woman is a woman of value. She is valuable to her husband and to her household (v 10, 11, 12 ,15, 18). A godly woman is a woman of virtue. Her virtue shows as she shuns sinfulness, as she speaks and as she strives steadfastly. (v 15, 17, 24, 26, 27). A godly woman is a woman of vision. She has a vision of faith, a vision for the future and a vision for her family (v 25, 27, 30).

I believe the most appropriate question to ask is “Am I a godly woman?” This is the question that we need to answer.
