March 19, 2023 - INSCRIPTIONS FROM THE HEART

One of the most severe punishments that can be inflicted on an inmate apart from the death penalty is solitary confinement. It’s curious to think that to punish some of the most hardened criminals in the world, one doesn’t need to inflict physical pain, or starve them -- one simply has to remove the ability of that person to interact with others and their need for connection will torture them.
We as believers sometimes go through this, and sometimes we slowly drift into this headspace or it’s a self-imposed form of solitary confinement. We distance ourselves from the world, and from people, thinking we are alone, and that God is far off. If you’re in place, listen to the words of the Psalmist: The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. (Psalms 145:18- 19)
If you feel alone, call upon the name of the Lord sincerely, and humble yourself before Him, He is near to you. I would suggest not only doing this once but often as needed.
To God be the glory.
