December 11, 2022 - INSCRIPTIONS FROM THE HEART

SERVANTHOOD

The Sermon on the Mount teaches us to humbly seek God and reach out to others in loving, diligent, superior service. Do more than what is required of you – go the extra distance. “Over-deliver” as some preachers would say.

“If you are sued in court and your shirt is taken from you, give your coat, too. If a soldier demands that you carry his gear for a mile, carry it two miles. You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!” (Matthew 5:40-41, 43-44 NLT)

In these words the Lord is revealing that God calls each of us to “over-deliver”, that is, to serve out of a loving heart, and to give more to others than they would expect from us. In doing this, we will reflect the perfect holy character of our Father in Heaven (Matthew 5:48).

Today and in the coming days, do something extra for your family (including the church family), loved ones, friends, etc. Think of some ways you can do something especially kind or be of service. Offer to help in whatever ways – whatever it takes to project the person of our Saviour Jesus Christ, the true servant of all, with clarity and sensitivity, to all who need Him.

God calls to us in CEAC! At a time when we are engaging in seeking God for new and specific direction for the great opportunities before us, let’s firmly choose to serve. Respond to the pressing needs within our church family, our community both locally and globally. It is time to work in partnership with God. This is the time to stretch. Are you ready?

We should never get tired to serving the Lord, knowing that work done for Jesus is never in vain.
