Life is a journey. People come and go as the Lord calls us to one place to live and work there for a while. When one’s assignment is done, God calls us to move on to His next purpose for us.

The same thing is true in church ministry. People are on a journey. In the worst of times or in the best of times, people are always on the move. Some will come and some will go. The key is not so much who is left or who is gone, but would you and I remain faithful ultimately to God and continue living according to His purpose, regardless of where we live or what we do to make an honest living.

A spiritual humanitarian fondly remembered by the world as Mother Theresa was once asked by a journalist (my paraphrase) ‘How do you experience success in helping the poor when millions of people still die every day?’ To which she answered, “God has not called me to be successful, Jesus called me to be faithful.”

In the midst of people coming or going, remain faithful to the Lord Jesus Christ alone. As the same Jesus mobilized His followers in His last command to go and make disciples of all nations, we have this assurance that we’re never alone because Jesus promised: “I will be with you always.” (see Matthew 28:18-20).
