God’s Word: Always Relevant, Always Fresh, Always Timely

I am thankful for the godly people that God placed in my life. I just got an email from a dear friend with this Scripture reference: 9 for a wide door for effective service has opened to me, and there are many adversaries. 13 Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, [spiritually mature] be strong. 14 Let all that you do be done in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:9, 13-14 NASB

A great opportunity to reach many people for God has come upon CEAC as we went through (and is still going through) with this Covid pandemic. It’s a wide open door. For sure the evil one is very unhappy about this. So he will do everything to disrupt any attempts to encourage people to take steps to draw closer to God. When a disruption of God’s work arises for petty reasons and the timing is uncanny, these are tell-tale signs of the enemy’s plot.

God through the Apostle Paul says: “12For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood [human] enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 When there are irritations or strains in our family, in our household, in our marriage, in our workplace or even in church, one way to analyze the situation is to discern whether or not the reason for the strife is miniscule when you put it alongside the bigger work that God wants to do in our life, in our family, in our church family and community. People (humans) are not the enemy. The devil and evil spirits are.

Be aware that there is an ongoing conflict between good and evil. The enemy of God is bent on disrupting and frustrating people who desire to draw nearer to God. Paul strongly encourages followers of Christ to do the following: “18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. 19 And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for all people.” Ephesians 6:18-19 NLT

If you desire to get closer to God, the Bible says the enemy of your soul will oppose you. Cry out to God in prayer. Our Lord Jesus Christ has defeated Satan. Jesus conquered sin and death. Christ’s Spirit is more powerful than the enemy. So do pray at all times and in all situations. In Christ, we overcome the enemy and win the spiritual war.
