Psalms 36:9 (ESV)

For with you is the fountain of life;

in your light do we see light.

We can exclusively find and experience the “fountain of life” and the “light of life” with our Lord. There is no other way that this can be made possible apart from God. The fountain of life gives a sense of “fresh, cleansing water” that gives life to those who are spiritually thirsty. The light that we can only have in God is the only way to dispel any and all of the darkness around us. Jesus said that He is the living water (John 4:14) and He is the Light of the world (John 8:12)

John 4:14 (ESV)

14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

John 8:12 (ESV)

12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

We surely are all in need of our spiritual thirst to be quenched and be completely satisfied and also all the darkness surrounding us to be dispelled by the only light - Jesus! With such earnest prayer and declaration of this verse, there is an underlying question that needs to be answered by us. Do we still have that “spiritual thirst” and “spiritual readiness to fight and overcome darkness?” Yes there is a never ending supply of fresh, cleansing water that gives life and yet do we desire and thirst for it? Yes there is the only light that dispels darkness, but do we desire to live in the light or hide and live in darkness? It is one thing to profess and its another thing to express what we confess.

In this challenging times that we live in, let us constantly run to Him, the “water of life and the light of life,” so we can still live fully satisfied and full of life, no matter what life brings to us now and in the future. Remember what Jesus said;

John 10:10 (ESV)

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

The thief takes away but Jesus “gives”! Let us continue to embrace and enjoy the abundant life in Him in a lifeless and dark world. Never give up, hold on to Him. Abundant life is in the “inner being,” and in Him we are unshakeable in a shakeable world.
