December 29, 2019 - INSCRIPTIONS FROM THE HEART
Remembering the Reason
The month of December is one of the most celebrated months throughout the year. It is the month of Christmas. The streets are filled with lights. Shopping Malls and homes are decorated and Christmas trees are erected. This is the season when we hear words like family, joy, happiness, peace and hope.
I woke up today and I was thinking what made this season the most significant season of the year for the world. Is it the snow? Is it the tree or the gifts under the tree? Is it us singing Silent Night or O holy night in cathedrals or churches. What made this season joyful? What made this season filled with hope? What made this season peaceful? What made the night in the most sung carol “O holy night” a ‘holy’ night. It was the birth of a baby boy named Jesus who was the only begotten son of God. This child was God who left divinity and took on mortal flesh to live among people and pave a way to eternal life over His dead body. Without Him a night would’ve just been another night. Without Him there would not have been a reason to remember a season that talks about joy or hope or peace. Without Him there wouldn’t have been a Christmas.
If we think about it, God could’ve withheld from sending His one and only son to earth and to die for people who would probably not even remembered Him or acknowledged His unexplainable love. But He did not. He valued you and me way much more than we would value Him. Imagine if he would’ve paused for a moment and thought, “Maybe I should hold off cause they won’t remember me. Maybe its not worth it.” I’m glad God does not think like man. I’m glad He felt you and I were worth the life of His one and only son.
“For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”
- Isaiah 9:6
“And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
- John 1:14
“...and you shall call His name Jesus for He will save His people from their sins.”
- Matthew 1:21
