October 27, 2019 - INSCRIPTIONS FROM THE HEART

Happy 30th Anniversary

18 But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. 19 If all were a single member, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, yet one body.

21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.”

But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, 25 that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26 If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.

ESV, 1 Cor 12

As we celebrate God’s faithfulness to the body of Christ at CEAC, I ask ‘what part of the body are you?’  This morning I am thankful for the minds of our church, the leaders who have lead us to where we are today, I am prayerful that the Lord may continue to grant you boldness and wisdom for the next thirty years.  I am also thankful for the eyes and ears, those great men and women of prayer who in our great need for the Lord are being drawn to him daily as they intercede for the body, I am praying for protection and discernment for your ministry.

I also think of the hearts of this body, who have yet to find a need large enough that our great God could not meet, for you I am praying continued grace and compassion to love the world as Jesus does.  I am thankful for the hands of the body, God’s people who lead by example and Christlike service, I pray for perseverance and humility to serve until honored with the crown of unfading glory.  I also pray for the feet, those who have gone as sent heralding the name of Jesus, may your faith be strengthened and strengthen others.  Lastly, I am thankful for the livers of this body, may you continue to be people of great hope even in the face of great digestion…

For 30 years, God has been faithful.  There have been reasons to grieve, and reasons to dance.  Reasons to cry, and reasons to laugh.  Reasons to mourn, and reasons to rejoice.  Central Edmonton Alliance Church, thank you for being a part of His body.  As we give praise to our God, let us also be most thankful for one another.  Who will you appreciate (as another part of the body) today?
