Fathers are irreplaceable. They are a gift from God that can never be replaced. They are always there for us when we need them. They are always there to discipline us in order for us to grow for the better. They are always there to love and guide us throughout life.
These earthly fathers reflect our heavenly Father. In Psalm 103:13, it says, “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.” Just as an earthly father loves their child, so too does our heavenly Father love us even more.
I remember a time when my dad came home from work. He came home and saw that the house was very messy, none of the chores he told us to do were done, and me
my brother were just sitting down, playing on our devices. He got really angry, to the point that he even threw a piece of newspaper across the other side of the living room (my dad threw it about 6m, which was honestly pretty impressive). After that, we started cleaning the house and started doing the chores my dad told us to do.
Now that I look back on it, my dad wasn’t really angry. Yes he was angry, but it was the type of anger that came with love. An anger that just wanted us to grow for the better. An anger that wanted us to be disciplined and responsible with our lives. Just how God wants all of this for us.
I’ll probably never forget all the things that my dad has done for me throughout all my life. As it says in Proverbs 1:8, “Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction.” God calls us to always listen to what our fathers are teaching. Not just listening to it, but also remembering it. So for all the things my dad has taught me throughout my life to help me become who I am today, I’ll never forget. So, to all the father’s out there … Happy Father’s Day!
