December 25, 2022 - INSCRIPTIONS FROM THE HEART

Merry CHRISTmas church! Today we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. The only one that is worthy of that name. I think of how this season is always bittersweet for me. Because as much as it is a joyous season, I can't help but be moved by the notion that Jesus came to be born so He could die.

My hope and prayer this Christmas day is that we echo the song of the angels and the elders in Revelation 5:9 saying:

“You are worthy to take the scroll

    and to open its seals,

because you were slain,

    and with your blood you purchased for God

    persons from every tribe and language and people and nation."

Only Jesus is worthy because He was slain and with His blood, He purchased us, a people from every tribe, language, people, and nation.

If Jesus were born in our time, I'm sure He would also be born away from the spotlight, noticed, humbly entering the world. That's just the kind of Saviour He is. As we celebrate this season, in our parties and gift-giving -- let's remember Christ who is the reason for this season. The Lord who is worthy and gives us a reason to celebrate, the Saviour who gave us His life so we could give forward blessings to others. Glory to Jesus who is God with us.
