IT'S OUR CELEBRATION SUNDAY TODAY!!!
Over the past 40 days, God has been doing great things in our midst. Today, we celebrate His wonderful works in and among us. The best way to celebrate is to give thanks. The apostle Paul thanks God every time he remembers individuals and congregations to whom he ministered. Whenever he remembers Timothy and the church in Philippi he gives thanks to God. The Bible encourages us to give thanks always. Psalm 136 is all about giving thanks.
We give thanks that there are more people in our congregation who took the challenge and committed or recommitted their lives to our Lord Jesus Christ. Many others who have never been a part of a life group decided to join one. People were brought together studying God's Word. They actually discovered how it is like being in a small group and learned to apply God's Word in their lives. Although we wished there could have been more life groups formed after the challenge, we praise and thank God even for one that was birthed out of it.
Now after the 40 Days of Being Challenge, what's next? We can't stop now! Now that we have discovered and learned the five (5) keystone habits (namely: Commit to Community, Study Scripture, Prioritize Prayer, Seek Solitude and Choose Church) that will help us grow in our relationship with the Lord, we need to grow deeper and hone these habits that were so important to our Lord Jesus Christ.
Let us shoot for the target to be like Jesus. The journey may be daunting, but we have the tools on our hands. Let us not allow unimportant things even lofty ambitions get in the way and encroach on our time with God.
Allow me to quote the following that I read, "Many people want to be greater followers of Jesus. It doesn't start with rules--it starts with a relationship. The best way to grow in our relationship with God is to learn from Jesus, the one who had a perfect relationship with Him. Jesus' love and life demonstrate habits that point us to God and transform our lives."
