Think of Christmas This February
For the College & Career (C&C) After Christmas Party this year, we dressed up as e-boys/e-girls. For those of you unfamiliar with the subculture, e-people are usually associated with the edgy, sad, but also stylish young people who mostly dress in all black. What a theme, I know.
You might be wondering why I’m talking about Christmas in February, but considering what we've experienced through the years and what some of us are still experiencing now. Did you notice how less and less people are hopeful for a better year? I’ve personally noticed a decrease in New Year’s resolutions as if people are afraid to strive and hope.
Is anyone just not hoping for anything good to happen anymore? And yet, because of God’s love for us, we can have hope in Jesus Christ. Matthew 2:1-12 is the account of the wise men visiting Jesus a couple of years after His birth. For the people of faith in the Bible -- they didn't just have a few years of hopelessness. From the end of the Old Testament to the beginning of the New Testament, was a span of about 400 years. God didn't reveal anything new, no new prophets or judges arose. What broke that silence was Jesus' birth.
John 3:16, everyone should know by heart, “for God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son…” So, this February, I hope you’re reminded of Jesus’ birth. Because of God’s love, He gave us Jesus -- the Word that broke heaven’s silence.
To God be the glory!
