March 20, 2022 - INSCRIPTIONS FROM THE HEART

By Pastor Immanuel Garcera

One of the hardest things to accept in life is when any given good situation does not have a catch. Also one of the things I find amazing about being in the community of believers is the way we love and serve each other without expecting anything in return (most times -- as not all do this). People genuinely tend to be good without a catch! A similar thing is reflected in the Gospel.

The pivotal point of conflict in the book of Galatians is the appeal of false teachers to return back to the Law as it makes sense for the people to follow rules and therefore be rewarded for their actions. Yet, Paul tells us, "For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. And as for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God." (Galatians 6:15-16). It is neither by fulfilling the law nor being unable to that has value, but it’s through the new life we have in Christ through faith that has value, that’s what matters.

Sometimes, something is truly too good to be true, yet it is how it is. This can be hard to accept at first, but with understanding and a heart willing to know and learn, opportunities like eternal life in Christ can be opened to us. By Jesus' sacrifice, we are saved by grace through faith -- let us know this and give praise to God alone.

To God be the glory!
