Serving Like Our Saviour
Jesus is our ultimate example, He didn’t just preach; He also served. He washed feet, healed the sick, and fed the hungry. He used whatever means He had to show love and compassion and He called us to do the same.
The Bible tells us that we are all uniquely gifted by God, “as each has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace” (1 Peter 4:10). Perhaps you have the gift of encouragement, for teaching, leading or for hospitality. No gift is too small when offered in service to the building of the kingdom of God.
I recently sold some shoes that were given to me that I never wore (too big). When the buyer who was the right size wore them out of our house, they were thankful -- and I was happy. Because those shoes that’s been sitting in the closet were finally being worn and put to use. Think of the parable of the talents, each servant was given a gift and their faithfulness was measured by how they used the resource they were given. Are we hiding or burying our talents in fear or in laziness? Or are we truly actively seeking opportunities to serve?
You have gifts. Let’s ask God to reveal and remind us of our gifts and to show us where He needs us to serve. Step out in faith and use what we’ve been given, as a church, to reflect the love of Christ who didn’t just preach but also served.
To God be the glory!
