June 9, 2024 - INSCRIPTIONS FROM THE HEART

How do you spell ‘relief’ when you have gone from trouble to triumph? CELEBRATE. It’s not just cliché, you need to know the source of your energy and enthusiasm; the joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10). Exhausted and empty after the wall’s completion, the peoples’ initial reactions is to weep and mourn upon hearing God’s word. How you pick yourself up when you’re feeling down and out, your energy drained and spiritual vitality empty? How do I strengthen my grip on life?

Access God’s word regularly. Nehemiah 8:1-4 (NLT)   All the people assembled with a unified purpose at the square just inside the Water Gate. They asked Ezra the scribe to bring out the Book of the Law of Moses, which the Lord had given for Israel to obey… Ezra the priest brought the Book of the Law before the assembly, which included the men and women and all the children old enough to understand. He faced the square just inside the Water Gate from early morning until noon and read aloud to everyone who could understand. All the people listened closely to the Book of the Law.  Ezra the scribe stood on a high wooden platform that had been made for the occasion…. Ezra stood on the platform in full view of all the people. When they saw him open the book, they all rose to their feet.

Don’t stop until you get it (until you understand). Nehemiah 8:7-8  The Levites…—then instructed the people in the Law while everyone remained in their places. They read from the Book of the Law of God and clearly explained the meaning of what was being read, helping the people understand each passage

There are benefits in understanding God’s Word—we respond correctly; we ae assured that our response is appropriate and accurate; we apply it and become a doer of God`s Word.
