May 12, 2024 - INSCRIPTIONS FROM THE HEART

Moms are amazing! I can tell you that because I've had lots of moms in my life. I got my grandma who took care of me a lot when I was young, super good at cooking, what a legend! My mama who raised me to be conscious of spending money well, she also taught me to be generous and that God and church are important! I've got my Chinese moms who through my 7 years working at a Japanese restaurant taught me discipline, service, and cooking skills -- they also fed me great food which I learned how to cook later on. My church moms who looked after me and my siblings while not being our biological mom, some were even younger than me! Then there's my wife, Erica, now a mother of two whom I try to help out. She manages to work, take care of the house (minus the laundry and cooking) while taking care of our crazy kids. I honestly don't know how moms do it -- they're amazing.
When I reflect on God and how an amazing Father figure He is to all -- He definitely is the ultimate parental figure. As just and holy God is, He is also very gracious and loving. Those last two things I don't see myself being all the time, as opposed to my wife and moms who embody love and grace most times, if not all the time. Romans 5:8 tells us: "but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Such a short verse holds so much impact on the amount of love and grace God has for people. God shows His love towards us by giving us His Son to be the ultimate sacrifice while we were still: guilty, at fault, in the wrong -- while we were still His enemies. What an act it is to not only say we love, but also to show it by our grace and kindness.
This coming week, let's make it a mom's week -- not just a day, but a whole week to celebrate and appreciate ALL the moms in our lives. Those special ladies who might not have necessarily told us they loved us, but showed us they do by their loving kindness. Just like what God the Father did through Christ. Let’s follow their example to show grace and kindness like God does for us each and every day.
Blessings to you and your mothers! To God be the glory!
